The short version: the test is free, your full result comes with a subscription that renews until you cancel, your IQ score is an estimate, not a diagnosis, and you shouldn't fake certificates.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and BetterIQ ("we", "us") for the IQ test on better-iq.com, the rest of the website and the BetterIQ app. By using them you accept these terms, our Subscription Terms and our Refund Policy. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your data.
2. What IQ is
IQ has an online IQ test, a certificate anyone can look up, short daily brain games and personality tests. Your IQ comes only from the tests; the games train you and give you a Brain Score.
An IQ score from IQ is an estimate from a short, timed test taken online. It is not a clinical or psychological assessment, and it should not be used for medical, educational, hiring or legal decisions. Scores can move a few points between tests, and practice tends to raise them a little.
3. The test and paying for your result
Taking the test on our website is free. To see your full result and certificate and to use the app, you buy a subscription. Before you pay, the checkout shows what you pay today, the price after any discounted first period, how often it renews, and how to cancel. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel.
How billing, renewal and cancellation work is set out in our Subscription Terms, and refunds in our Refund Policy. Purchases made inside the app through the App Store or Google Play also follow Apple's or Google's terms.
You must be at least 18 to buy a subscription, or have a parent's or guardian's permission.
4. Your account
You can use the app without an account. If you sign in, with Apple, with Google or with a code we email you, keep that account or email secure, because anyone with it can sign in as you. You must be at least 13 to use IQ. You can delete your account at any time in the app under You → Delete account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription; cancel it as described in our Subscription Terms.
5. Certificates
A certificate records the result of one test. Each one has a number, and anyone with the number can check it at better-iq.com/lookup, which shows the name on it, the IQ, the date and the number. If you add a name, add your own. Don't alter a certificate or present it as something it isn't, such as a clinical result.
We may remove a certificate that was issued in error or obtained by misusing IQ.
6. Fair use
Don't misuse the test, the app or the website: don't try to break or overload them, fake results or certificates, scrape the certificate lookup, share your paid access with others, or copy the games, art or questions for your own product. If you do, we may suspend or close your account. If we close a paid account without good reason, we refund the unused part of your current period.
7. Our content
The test, the app, the games, art, questions and text belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own use while you use IQ.
8. Changes and availability
We keep improving IQ, so games and features change. We only change what a subscription includes for a good reason, such as fixing problems, keeping IQ secure or improving it, and never so you pay more for the same period. We try to keep the service running but can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. If we change these terms or IQ in a way that matters, we email subscribers before the change applies, with how to cancel.
9. EU and EEA: if IQ doesn’t work as promised
If you live in the EU or the EEA, you have legal rights under the EU Digital Content Directive (Directive (EU) 2019/770) and your national law. These rights are free and don't depend on our Refund Policy.
- For as long as your subscription runs, IQ must work as described, as you can reasonably expect, and with the updates needed to keep it working. We are responsible for any fault that appears during that time.
- If it doesn't, you can ask us to fix it, free of charge and within a reasonable time.
- If we can't or don't fix it, or the fault is serious, you can ask for a fair price reduction or, unless the fault is minor, end the subscription. If you end it, we refund the part of what you paid that covers the time IQ didn't work, plus any period you paid for in advance.
- If we change IQ in a way that makes it clearly worse for you, we tell you before, and you can end the subscription free of charge within 30 days of the notice or the change, whichever is later.
To use these rights, email help@better-iq.com. The UK has similar rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
10. Liability
IQ is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for decisions made on the basis of a score, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by law, including the rights in section 9, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
If you live in the EU, the EEA, the UK or another country with mandatory consumer protection laws, those laws still protect you, and where they give you more rights than these terms, they win. You can also bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.
12. Solving problems and EU online dispute resolution
If you have a problem, email help@better-iq.com first. Most problems are solved within a few days.
The European Commission's online dispute resolution (ODR) platform closed on 20 July 2025, so we don't link to it. We are not part of an alternative dispute resolution scheme for consumers, and we are not obliged to be. If you live in the EU, you can still get free help with a cross-border complaint from the European Consumer Centre in your country.
