How does the IQ test work?
You solve a series of puzzles. Each one is a grid of shapes with one piece missing, and you pick the piece that completes it. They start easy and get harder. You don’t need to read or do sums.
What does my result show?
Your IQ and your percentile. The percentile is the share of people you scored higher than: an IQ of 115 is higher than 84% of people.
How is my IQ worked out?
Your answers are scored and placed on the IQ scale, where the average is 100 and the standard deviation is 15. Your percentile comes from the same scale, so it is the same number the certificate shows.
What is a good IQ score?
100 is the average. Two thirds of people score between 85 and 115. A score of 115 is higher than 84% of people, and 130 is higher than 98%.
How does the certificate work?
Every certificate has its own 12-character code, printed on it. Anyone can enter the code on our lookup page to see the name, IQ and date on that certificate.
Is this a clinical IQ test?
No. It is an online test. Clinical IQ tests are given in person by a psychologist.
Can I raise my score?
Practice with puzzles like these tends to raise test scores a little. In the app you can retake the IQ test every 14 days, after 10 training games, and see your new score.
What are the training games?
More than 20 short games for memory, logic, maths and words, such as Dual N-Back, Corsi Blocks, Mental Math and Five Letters Classic. Each game adjusts to your level.
Which personality tests are there?
The Big Five personality test (50 questions), the Type A, B, C or D test (24 questions) and the Talent Test, which finds your top 5 of 24 strengths.
How do I cancel my subscription?
If you subscribed on this website, cancel online or email us and we cancel it for you. If you subscribed in the iPhone or Android app, cancel in the subscription settings of your App Store or Google Play account.
How often can I retake the IQ test?
In the app, the next IQ test opens 14 days after your last one, once you have played 10 training games in the last 14 days. The next test is never the one you just took.
Why does my result say “below 79” or “above 145”?
The test’s norm table runs from 79 to 145. A result past either end is shown as a range, not as a number the test can’t back up.
What is a percentile?
Your percentile is the share of people you scored higher than. The 90th percentile means a higher score than 90 of every 100 people. You can turn any IQ into a percentile with our calculator.
What is the average IQ?
100. IQ tests are set up so the average score of the people they are normed on is 100, and the standard deviation is 15.
Do the training games change my IQ?
No. Your IQ comes only from the IQ test. The games track your progress game by game.
Can I remove my certificate from the lookup?
Yes. Email us with the certificate's 12-character code and we will remove it from the lookup page.
Do I need an account?
No. The app works without an account. If you sign in with Apple, Google or a code we email you, your progress and results are saved to your account, so you don’t lose them on a new phone.
How do I delete my account and my data?
In the app, open You, then tap Delete account and confirm. This deletes your account, your email address and the progress and results saved on it. If you can’t open the app, email us from the address on your account.
Can I get a refund?
If you paid on this website, email us to ask for a refund. If you paid in the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google handle the refund: ask at reportaproblem.apple.com or in your Google Play order history.
