The short version: the checkout shows what you pay today, what you pay after the discounted first period and how often. The subscription renews until you cancel. You can cancel online at any time, and you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
1. What you buy and who bills you
A subscription gives you full access to IQ: your complete IQ result and certificate, the brain games and the personality tests, on the website and in the app, for as long as the subscription is active.
If you buy on better-iq.com, you buy from BetterIQ, and the payment is processed by Stripe. You can pay by card or with any wallet shown at checkout. If you subscribe inside the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google bills you instead; see section 11.
2. What you see and agree to before you pay
Next to the pay button, the checkout shows:
- that the subscription renews automatically until you cancel;
- what you pay today for your discounted first period, and how long that period lasts;
- the price you pay after that, and how often you are charged (for example every 4 weeks);
- how to cancel; and
- who we are and how to reach us.
We only charge you after you agree to the automatic renewal on its own, by ticking a box or pressing a button that says what it does. Right after you buy, we email you a confirmation you can keep, with the price, how often you are charged, how to cancel and a link to do it. It also says how to cancel before you are charged.
3. Automatic renewal
When the discounted first period ends, the subscription continues at the regular price shown at checkout, unless you cancel before it ends. The introductory price applies only to the first period.
After that, the subscription renews at the end of each period, for a period of the same length, until you cancel. We charge the payment method you used at checkout on the day each new period starts.
Prices are in the currency shown at checkout. Where sales tax or VAT applies, the checkout shows whether it is included or added.
4. Reminders before we charge you
We email you:
- if your discounted first period lasts more than 31 days, 3 to 21 days before it ends;
- if your plan runs for a year or longer, 15 to 45 days before it renews; and
- at least once a year, whatever your plan, with what you subscribe to, what you pay, how often, and how to cancel.
Every reminder says what we will charge, when, and how to cancel.
5. How to cancel
You can cancel online at any time:
- by sending us this ready-made cancellation email from the email address you used at checkout. You don't need to add anything or give a reason.
You never have to call us or talk to anyone to cancel. If we show you an offer to stay when you cancel, a Click to cancel button stays on the screen the whole time, and pressing it cancels at once. We confirm every cancellation by email, and we process emailed cancellations within 1 business day.
Deleting the app, deleting your account or not using the subscription does not cancel it.
6. When a cancellation takes effect
A cancellation stops all future charges as soon as we receive it. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, including the rest of a discounted first period. Then the subscription ends.
To avoid the next charge, cancel before the current period ends. If we charge you after you cancelled, email us and we refund that charge.
7. Failed payments
If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it over the next few days, and we may email you to update your payment method. If it still fails, the subscription ends.
8. Price changes and other changes
If we raise the price of your subscription, we email you 7 to 30 days before the new price applies to you, with how to cancel. A new price never applies to a period you have already paid for.
If we make any other important change to these terms or to what your subscription includes, we email you before it applies, with how to cancel. If you live in the EU or the EEA and a change makes IQ clearly worse for you, you can also end the subscription free of charge within 30 days (see our Terms of Service).
9. Refunds and your right to withdraw
Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy. If you live in the EU, the EEA or the UK, you also have 14 days from purchase to withdraw, as explained there.
10. California: Automatic Renewal Law
If you live in California, these terms follow California's Automatic Renewal Law (Business and Professions Code section 17600 and following). In short: we show the renewal terms before you pay and charge you only after you agree to them, we email you a confirmation you can keep, we remind you before a discounted first period longer than 31 days ends, before a yearly plan renews and at least once a year, we tell you 7 to 30 days before a price change, and you can cancel online at any time without calling anyone.
11. Subscriptions bought in the app
If you subscribed inside the iPhone or Android app, Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) bills you under its own terms. The price, period and any introductory offer are shown on the purchase screen. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, and the store charges you within the 24 hours before the new period starts.
iPhone or iPad: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, choose IQ and tap Cancel Subscription.
Android: open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, choose IQ and tap Cancel.
We can't cancel or refund an App Store or Google Play subscription for you; the store handles both.
